Sweet and Smooth Green Delight

This is a great way to start your day, trust me.
Throw some green grapes, kiwi, cucumber, slice of lime, broccoli, parsley, kale, lettuce, and an orange or tangelo in the Vita-Mix and…

Turn it to speed 10, then high, and then enjoy.
This is a typical healthy breakfast smoothie for me, but it makes a fantastic healthy lunch smoothie too.

Sweet Potato Smoothie

Don’t be skeptical of this list of ingredients. The Vita-Mix will magically turn them into a refreshingly satiating smoothie.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cooked and peeled yam
  • 1 blood orange, peeled
  • 1 tangelo, peeled
  • seeds from 1/2 pomegranate
  • a small thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger, peeled
  • 3 pitted Medjool dates
  • 1 apple
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ice

Pinot Noir

Having special ties to Oregon, I am fond of many Oregon and Northwest products. Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir is one of them. Pinot Noir is a very difficult grape to grow, and it turns out the climate in Oregon is ideal for this grape. I am in the midst of a Pinot frenzy, which involves tasting a different Pinot Noir whenever I have the chance. This 2007 was enjoyable, to say the least.

Eggs and Sauerkraut on Rye

I am not a big fan of eggs, so I don’t eat them often. But, we were given some homemade sauerkraut and we had rye bread in the house, so I decided to make a sandwich on toasted rye. This is just a fried egg with salt and pepper and some outstanding sauerkraut. It was really good.
