Whiskey Sour

As I’ve said before, I refrain from using simple syrup. So, it will take and extra 2-3 minutes make this drink. I think it is well worth it.

In a glass, add 1-2 TB honey (depending on how sweet you like it) and the juice of 1/2 lemon. Mix well until it is evenly combined. Add 2-3 shots of whiskey (I usually use Maker’s Mark), and stir. Add ice and enjoy.

Lemon Lime Basil Spritzer

This drink is different, but delicious, and perfect in the summer when fresh basil is growing in your garden. This recipe will make 2 drinks.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1 or more shots of vodka
  • 4-5 basil leaves
  • club soda
Rinse the basil leaves and break them apart. If you have the right tools to make a mojito, mash the basil leaves in the bottom of the cup to release their flavor. Otherwise, use a long spoon to try and mash the leaves a bit. Add the lemon and lime juice, vodka, club soda, and ice. Mix and enjoy.

Lime Rickey

No simple syrup means no extra sugar. That’s the way I prefer to make cocktails.

Ingredients:
  • juice of 4 limes
  • 5 shots (depending on how you like it) gin. I prefer bombay Sapphire
  • 1 can seltzer or club soda
  • ice
Mix and enjoy.

Greyhound Spritzer

For one glass:

Juice one grapefruit and 1/2 lime. Pour 1 or 2 shots (depending on how hard the day was) of vodka on ice. Add the citrus juice blend, and enough seltzer or club soda to fill the glass. Mix and enjoy.
